The 9 Pillars of Health Series: Relationships

We’ve all heard the saying, “You are the sum of your five closest friends.” This highlights the profound impact our social circles have on our lives.

I used to believe that everything came down to willpower. Negative thoughts, undesirable actions, and bad influences seemed like personal choices. However, the truth is that humans are inherently social beings, easily influenced by their surroundings. We thrive on positive encouragement and praise.

A negative environment will most definitely breed negative outcomes. Conversely, a positive environment provides fertile ground for personal growth and the possibility of good things to happen. It also makes us feel loved and supported, which is a significant boost to mental health and well-being.

It’s not enough to simply have people around us; they must be the right people. Surround yourself with individuals who uplift, inspire, and support you. Find your people. Find your tribe. The right relationships can be a cornerstone of your health and fitness journey, providing the emotional and psychological support needed to thrive.
