Staying Fit during vacations.
“How to maintain my Fitness routine while on vacation?”
I get asked this often by clients both when I go on vacation or as a questions about when they go on vacation.
The old-school Fitness Coach would tell you all of the ways you can squeeze a workout in, or what to eat and not to eat, or how many steps to aim for. They would fear monger their clients about not losing any progress they’ve had in the past few months over the course of 10-14 days. They would emphasize the importance of discipline over your desire to enjoy yourself.
Read that last sentence again.
I think that’s garbage. We workout and take care of ourselves SO WE CAN ENJOY OUR LIFE. What’s more important that being able to fully be present in the vacation you planned to spend time in a place you love, with people you love?
When I get asked that initial question, my advice is simple:
“Don’t worry about it, be as active as you want to be, eat what makes you happy, if you can (and WANT) then sure, squeeze a workout in. But remember, have fun. We will be here when you get back to pick it up again.”
